Gallery Clean-Up
last modified: Tuesday, October 26, 2010 (10:58:05 PM CST)
I need one.

When I was going through my gallery the other day, I noticed that I was missing a cel in a section. Signing in with my gallery password didn't reveal it. So, I logged into my account and discovered that I had hidden it. Found out later that I'd hidden a few others, too . . . over a year ago.

I also need to go through my gallery and find which cels/thumbnails have wonky coloring. Apparently, Photoshop has this thing called color profiles that embeds your images with data, and the data makes it so that the images appear the same no matter how you view them. Unfortunately, not all programs support these color profiles. Windows picture and fax viewer, for example, will show different colors than what you see in Photoshop.

So, for example, if you use one color in a banner you make in Photoshop, and copy the exact same color code into RS as your background color, you'll actually end up with two different colors. I noticed this months back when I realized that the banners I had designed to blend into my gallery on RS was doing no blending. I asked around, and most people I asked were seeing what I designed. But it looked ugly on my computer.

The fix for this problem is to open the picture in Photoshop, click on "Edit," then "Assign Color Profile...," then select "Don't Color Manage This Document," and finally click "OK." Problem solved.

So, some of my thumbnails look slightly darker than the others, even though they were made the same way. Blegh.

I guess I just need some all around clean-up. Now to just find the time . . .

I'm currently rearranging my cel books and doing some long overdue physical upkeep (changing cel bags, removing icky tape, etc.). I have 7 cel books. That's not nearly enough to house my collecting, even using both sides of each pocket. I just added it up. I have about 500 pieces of art. Plus, I've got another 20-30 I haven't uploaded yet. That's not counting the ones I've got up on my sales page.

Sad thing is, I really haven't bought much in over a year. I guess it just doesn't hit you until you have to physically do something with them. Perhaps I'll go through them and try to put some up for sale.

Heh. As it is, though, I have a really hard time finding pieces to let go. I think I spied a few, but I'm not sure. I suppose everything's all right as long as I still love them, right? As long as I'm not putting myself in a bad situation financially? Though I did just spend $60 on cel bags . . . >.< I need at least another 4 cel books to house my current collection. Maybe 5.

Perhaps I will sell off those few I think I could miss. That is, if anyone out there wants them. I used to have good luck selling cels back when I was a newbie, but I haven't really sold much in the past 3 years or so, despite my efforts. Blegh. Maybe I'll hide all of the cels that I'm thinking of selling for a few months, then spring them on people. Maybe then, they'll look new and fresh and shiny. ^_~

20K and Birthday Update!
last modified: Thursday, June 25, 2009 (12:10:18 AM CST)
As some of you may remember, I posted a request last night asking for 188 hits by sometime today. Well, I got that amount by 8pm yesterday. ^_^ You guys rock! That pushed me up over 20K hits, a huge milestone. ^_^

About 6 months ago, I saw that I was inching closer to that goal. I knew that I would be slowing down in my collecting, so I wanted to save some of my major wishlist acquisitions until I got to 20,000 hits. Of course, I kind of forgot that I don't get nearly as many hits when I don't update . . .

Anyway, yesterday, I noticed that I needed less than 200 hits to make it to my goal. And . . . today's my birthday. So, I thought it would be a cool birthday present if I made it to 20K. RS members and viewers really pulled through for me there. ^_^

So, I've updated to celebrate making it to 20K hits, as well as to celebrate my birthday. Check out One Piece (genga, video games, and repros), Fushigi Yugi, and Escaflowne! Or, you can just check out my "New Island Inhabitants" section to see them all at once!

I'd hoped to get everything up today, but I was kind of busy doing other things. ^^;; I'll be adding more in the next couple of days!

Suuuuuuuuuper and DONE!
last modified: Tuesday, June 23, 2009 (10:14:45 PM CST)
Franky is finished redesigning my island! Actually, he kind of did it without asking . . . -_- But, I think it looks neat! Kind of . . . super. :P

So, in celebration, I was hoping that I could get 188 hits in the next 8 hours. Please? Actually, by any time tomorrow would be great. I'm sure some of you know the reason, but I'm going to keep it a secret from the rest for now. You know, in case it turns out to be a major failure. ^^;;;

So, click, click, click!!!!

EDIT: Wow! Finished in 4! I suppose I'll have to dust off the old image editor . . . ^_~

Guess I'm the April Fool
last modified: Thursday, April 09, 2009 (8:58:59 PM CST)
I was so late getting my act together that when I asked Usopp to do the island redecorating for this month, he was mad. He kept muttering something about me forgetting some special day. I wonder what that was about? Anyway, luckily, Usopp's close friend Sogeking came to my rescue! So, enjoy his work!

Once again, I have unlocked last year's layout for viewing. Though, you all are probably just going to look at the thumbnails and maybe click on the home page. >:( I watched the hit counts for March! No one looked at the private area page from last March . . . I know for a fact that all three of those hits are from bulleta!!!! :P Who, btw, was a doll and helped Sogeking eliminate some text and png problems. Thanks!

Green Is Go!
last modified: Sunday, March 08, 2009 (2:59:24 AM CST)
Okay, so I actually finished my layout earlier this week. But at least I announced it within the first week of March! Unlike my February layout . . .

I had a harder time channeling Zoro this time around. So, the resulting text is a little fangirlie. :P Really, though, it's very in-character for him to not want to redecorate my island for me . . .

Oh! To go along with the Zoro theme, I uploaded one of my favorite Zoro pieces:

As before, I've opened up last year's March theme up for viewing. It's under "Previous OP Gallery Designs." Enjoy!

p.s. Kudos to anyone who figures out what the three text colors represent. ^_~

Less Than a Week Left for Pink
last modified: Tuesday, February 24, 2009 (2:22:35 PM CST)
*gasp!* I just realized that I never announced my February layout change! Sanji would be so disappointed!

In case you didn't realize, this month is PINK. 'Cuz of Valentine's Day and all. I've also unlocked last year's layout (in the Previous OP Layouts section) so you can relive the memories. Or laugh at me. Whichever. ^_~

Pure White
last modified: Wednesday, December 03, 2008 (12:52:08 PM CST)
I spent some time contemplating the coloring of this month's layout. After all, traditional Christmas colors are red and green. But, I'd already done both of those colors, and I didn't really want to repeat myself. After thinking for a while, and staring at the screencaps I'd collected, I realized that there was snow in nearly every one of them. Living in the desert, you tend to forget that the northern hemisphere associates snow with Christmas.

Then, I thought a bit more. After all, Christmas itself isn't about the season, or the presents. Thinking about what it really means, and what it really means for us, pure white seemed like a good choice. Plus, Chopper himself is pretty innocent. ^_^

In an IM conversation, one of my best cel buds told me that she expected a full rendition of Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, only for Chopper. Well, I kind of laughed her off. But, later that night . . . I went and wrote the following parody. ^^;;; Enjoy!

Chopper the blue-nosed reindeer,
Had a very human-like pose!
Like a gorilla!
And if you ever saw him,
You would even say he grows!
Like a gorilla!

All of the other reindeer,
Used to laugh and call him names!
Like blueberry!
They never let poor Chopper,
Join in any reindeer games!
Like the Davy Back Fight!

Then one snowy Winning Eve*,
Luffy came to say,
"Chopper with your seven forms,
Shut up! Join my crew, today"

Now all the StrawHats love him,
As he prances with chopsticks,
"Chopper the Blue-Nosed Reindeer,
You're the doctor who can fix . . ."
their numerous injuries~~~!

My World Is Black
last modified: Wednesday, October 01, 2008 (2:14:20 PM CST)
See? ^_^

Ever since Brook was introduced as a character in One Piece, I knew he was destined to become the focus of a Halloween layout. I mean, he's a living skeleton, for crying out loud!

So, take a look around. I hope I got the correct feel for his character--after all, he hasn't really been around that long, especially for anime-only followers like me. Happy Halloween, and enjoy!

Feeling Blue . . .
last modified: Wednesday, July 09, 2008 (3:25:39 AM CST)
Well, kind of. But, the real meaning behind the title is . . . I changed my gallery design again!

This month, my island will be completely blue in celebration of summer, blue skies, swimming pools, the beach, and Franky's hair. ^_^ Considering his outfit, Franky seemed like the perfect guy to symbolize summer, so he got a chance to do some remodeling!

Sorry it took so long. He's a little gunshy after what happened when he remodeled Nami's waver without her permission . . .

Anyway, this one will probably last until at least the first week of August. Enjoy!

I was reading through my weblog entries tonight, and I realized that a lot of them were about school. Writing papers, taking tests, good teachers, bad teachers, moving in and out of dorms, roommate troubles, and the like. Actually, in the past couple years, I've been very lax about writing here in general--especially compare with the first year and a half or so that my gallery was up. I think that came from a combination of becoming super busy with school, work, and other life stuff, and a strand of entries in which only a person or two commented. Maybe a disillusionment with the community in general? Who knows. I feel bad at times for not keeping up, though.

Anyway! School. Considering how much I've whined (though a few people seemed to find it entertaining) I figured I better post the most important update. Last Thursday, May 8th, 2008, I graduated! I'm the first member in my direct line of ancestors and immeadiate family (iow, excluding aunts and uncles) to get my bachelor's degree! My graduating class was something like 8,000 people, so I decided to forego commencement. Somehow, the idea of spending hours crammed together with that many people didn't appeal to me. But, I did attend my specific college's convocation. Even that had a lot of attendants. But, it was the only cermony I could walk in, and my parents wanted to see me walk. So, I forked over the $40 for my cap and gown, donned my "you got a high GPA" cord, and set off.

It started about a half an hour late, and the students were not distributed evenly, so it went over the two hour guesstimate. There were two readers, and about four sections. The third and fourth section were disproportionate, though. So, before the fourth section was even halfway done, one of the readers ran out of students, and so the second had to finish the last hundred or so by herself. If it had been planned better, the whole thing would have been shorter.

But, I walked, my parents (and some siblings) saw me, and that's all that matters. Now, I need to start searching for a job in ernest. Which is what brings me back to the reason I was looking through my blog here. One of the jobs I was looking at was for a copywriter. One of their "preferred" qualifications is experience blogging or posting on an internet forum. Well, I haven't blogged too much on my LJ, so I thought maybe I should check out these entries to see if I could use them as experience. Ah, the nostalgia. ^^

Seeing Red . . .
last modified: Monday, May 05, 2008 (2:13:14 PM CST)
Aren't you?

So, today's a very special day. Yep, that's right--Children's Day! It's the very special day in Japan that is especially for children. So, get out those koi banners!

It also happens to be Luffy's birthday. Given his personality . . . well, I'm sure you can see the joke there. ^_^ So, I've decided to turn the gallery over to Luffy this time in my series of One Piece designs. He got a little . . . obsessed with a certain theme. ^^;;;

Anyway, hope you enjoy! Happy Children's Day! Happy Cinco de Mayo (even if the majority of Mexico celebrates their independence in November . . .)!

You Yellow-Bellied . . .
last modified: Wednesday, April 02, 2008 (4:02:13 PM CST)
Usopp! In honor of Usopp's birthday, which was yesterday, 4/1, I have changed the gallery layout for the month of April. ^_^ Since the color that Oda associated with everyone's favorite cowardly liar is yellow, the gallery has turned yellow in honor of Usopp.

Yes, the color and birthday do in fact say a lot about his character. ^_^ There are kinda spoilers in the third image of the "About" page, if you haven't watched the Enies Lobby arc yet.

You Dye a River, I Dye the Sea
last modified: Tuesday, March 04, 2008 (2:13:06 AM CST)
Take that, Chicago!

A few days back, I was thinking about how much I liked the change to my gallery's colors and graphics. I liked having it decorated for someone else (even though that someone was a fictional character).

Anyway, I got to thinking about maybe doing it for other holidays, and the next one popped into my head--St. Patrick's Day. Now, thinking about Sanji from One Piece, and all that St. Patrick's Day represents (green stuff and beer) I couldn't help but think of the green-haired, booze-lovin' swordsman. ^_^

So, this month, I have decorated the island in honor of Zoro. He didn't help at all. But, that's not really surprising. :P

Just as a sidenote, I don't drink, nor do I condone the action. If you want to, more power to you. I just choose not to. ^_^

EDIT: Switched around an image to make it more . . . *ahem* private. :D

I was attacked in route to my Island of Misfit Cels Monday night. The perps stole my boat and left me marooned on a tiny island. ;_; By the time I made it to my Island, it had been . . . redecorated. One of the inhabitants got a little over excited, what with it being February and all, and he painted everything pink in preperation for Singles' Awareness Day (2/14) and his plans to turn the Island into his own personal Mellorine Base.

After my initial shock, I decided to let him keep it up for the month. After all, Sanji can really cook. And sing. And dance. Plus, I had sand in my underwear from when I passed out from the shock of the . . . pinkness of it all. >.< The Island will return to normal at the end of February. Until then, pull up a chair and wait for the resident Love Cook to fawn over you. If you're a guy . . . well, you'll still get your delicious food--you'll just have to wait a little longer for Sanji to notice you. ^^;;;

Much thanks to Tex-chan for providing inspiration to me Sanji.

It Hurts
last modified: Sunday, December 30, 2007 (12:51:49 PM CST)
When I first started cel collecting, I discovered Rubberslug before my first purchase was even made. For the lowly new cel collector like I was at the time (and maybe still am) it contained a wealth of information and a dazzling display of artwork I could only hope to own.

The one thing that was very off-putting about the entire experience was the number of rather nasty, "None of these cels are for sale, so don't even think about asking, oh ye scum of the earth!!!!" warnings that were up in galleries. Okay, so maybe they weren't quite that bad, but for a newbie entranced by gorgeous artwork from some of her favorite shows, they were very scary, and it made me feel like I would never want to talk to the curators of those galleries.

So, when I opened my own, I had a different message. It said something along the lines of "Technically, my cels are always for offers, but don't be upset if I refuse to sell. I will be less likely to sell if I only have one cel of that character." Of course, once the new No Sales Policy rolled out about a year ago, this message came down--with a little friendly reminder from one of the RS mods, as I had forgotten it was even up there. Honestly, though, before taking the message down, I think it did more to drive away offers than any nasty one could have. *chuckle* That, or the title of my gallery. I've gotten a grand total of four unsolicited offers in my collecting career, none of which stated a specific price. Here's a hint, guys: if it's not on Ebay or a sales page, I don't have a price in mind, so you're going to have to get the ball rolling on it.

But, recently, I've been considering putting a message up to "ye scum of the earth!!!"

The requests about whether I'm taking offers is not the annoying part--it's when I answer in the affirmative, and never get an answer back, that bugs me. The latest one has really gotten me angry.

Basically, I had moved some of my collection into a new section as an organizational tool for myself. That way, I could keep track of the cels/sketches that I was getting ready to put up on Ebay or on an off-site sales page. A month or so ago, I got some gallery feedback from a member here on RS, asking about one of the pieces I had in that section. I told him/her how much I wanted, since it would cut out the work I'd have to do in adding it to my sales page (which is a lot of work and time since my computer is so frickin' old and slow). This person agreed to the price, and told me that I would be paid the next day, since he/she was getting paid the next day. I mentioned my paypal address twice.

A week goes by. Knowing that sometimes replies end up in spam boxes, I send a message directly to her email rather than replying to the feedback. All I ask is if she's still interested in purchasing the artwork. I get no reply.

I hold off on putting this piece on Ebay with my latest auctions, since I know he/she's in school and it's finals times. This person just might be busy. I send him/her a pm on Beta with the same general message. Nothing. This collector doesn't log in for at least a week. When he/she does, he/she posts in a birthday thread, but my pm goes unread. I think it still is.

What irritates me the most about this whole thing is that I've been watching this collector update his/her gallery with coming soon's and new cels while I've not received a bit of contact. The gallery has been updated five to seven times in the past month. This person obviously has access to the internet, and money to spend--but not the courtesy to answer a simple question.

It hurts. Not just because I could use the money, but because it feels like the cel community in general has taken a downturn. Most of the nice people are disappearing, moving on, or just getting fed up. What's left are the flakes and the jerks. That's what hurts.

So Sore . . .
last modified: Friday, May 11, 2007 (1:46:35 PM CST)
I moved out of the dorms yesterday. I hurt everywhere!!! Even the sole of my feet are sore. ;_;

Yesterday was the first time I've ever had to move everything by myself. Since I have my own car now, my parents just figure that I can do it all myself. Luckily, my dad came by the night before to pick up my fridge, bike, and a few other big things. I barely fit all the rest of my junk into my tiny two door Cavalier. Having lots of anime junk is not condusive to moving. ;_; Though, truth be told, the stuff that took up the most room was my books (I really need to sell some of those) and my papers and notebooks from various classes.

The worst part was that one of the colleges was holding its graduation ceremony yesterday. Across the street from my dorm on the west side is the university's largest auditorium and some street parking. On the east side is the parking garage, where I have to park my car on the third floor--no elevators. I had the misfortune of going to move my car from the garage to the west side of the dorms to park on the street right as the graduation ceremony was about to start. So, the police officer directing traffic would not let me turn. So, I ended up having to drive in a huge circle to get to where I wanted to go in the first place.

I have had this happen to me several times, and it make me angry every time. I mean, I live here. I am not trying to go to the stupid events my university holds. I am just trying to get home, or go shopping, or whatever. Half the time, when there's something going on at the auditorium on the weekends, our parking garage gets open up as free parking to anyone who wants to park there. So, our $600+ parking fee (the highest on campus, I might add) only gives us the possibility of parking, especially if you happen to get back during an event.

Anyway, I finally made it over to the street parking, only to find that all of the spaces were gone. So, I went to park in a red zone, since normal parking laws do not get enforced during move in/out periods. Timing was not on my side again. ;_; A Parking and Transit guy was near by, and he came and yelled at me for parking where I was. I yelled right back, at which point he showed me where I could park. It was across the street and about 100 yards down. It was not that far . . .unless you're trying to move 50 pounds worth of junk all at once. ;_;

Anyway, it took me about three hours to move my stuff, making me checkout two hours late. During that time, a police officer came by and made me move my car again. When I finally got close to checking out, I had to wait in line for a vacuum. When I finally got one, the motor was overheated--it smelled really funny. So, I left it for about ten minutes, and tried again.

It set off the fire alarm. >.<

Finally, I got a good vacuum, and got completely checked out. I also managed to drop off my application for a writing tutor position. If I get it, I'll be working in the evenings, which will leave my morning hours open for some sort of internship, or perhaps working on my honors thesis. Scary as it seems, I only have one year left. 0.o

That Time of the Year
last modified: Thursday, May 03, 2007 (9:59:55 PM CST)
Ugh. It's that time of the year again. It seems like its sister came around not too long ago. That's right--spring semester finals. Save me now.

I'm taking eighteen credit hours this semeseter. It's been one heck of a ride--or drift, rather. I feel like I've been doing nothing but drift through life lately. I really should be a little more worried about graduating next year. Yes, I do think about it from time to time (and when I do think, I panic) but not enough to actually do something about it.

Let's face it--I'm getting an English degree. I need an internship, or I'll never get a job. Right now, I'm thinking about going on to grad school--just because the Real World scares me a bit. I'm leaning towards law school--maybe. As much as I love English, it's just too hard to get a job using an English degree. It's doable, it just takes some major self-marketing skills. I definately am not one to toot my own horn--at least, not directly. I tend to go for subtley pointing others towards my good traits. Unfortunately, getting a job requieres direct tooting.

Anyway, back to my current (and thus more dire) predicament. I've got a final tomorrow. I just took one today. I've got a paper due at noon on Monday, as well as a final in the morning. Plus, two more on Tuesday. Now, I'm taking six classes. So, I actually have a final in each class! Well, in one of the classes, I only have to write a paper, but that's just as bad--perhaps worse.

To top everything off, I just sold some cels on Ebay (post-sale!! Please don't zap me, RS moderators!). So, I've got some shipping to do. One of them was a huuuuge pan cel, so I need to figure out how to ship the darn thing. I imagine there will be a lot of cutting and taping of cardboard. Plus, I had hoped to get a surprise finished for a certain cel collector so that I can finally send her her birthday present, but I never have time to work on it. It's been in the works since December--back when I had not planned for it to be for her birthday. I'm an awful person. >.<

Anyway, I suppose I should start studying for my Spanish final now. Luckily--or not--the professor has given us the questions. So, I just need to answer them tonight so that I will do well on the test tomorrow.

G'night, folks!

Bzzzzt! College Life
last modified: Monday, March 26, 2007 (1:34:44 AM CST)
I'm such a freaking procrastinator.

I had all of spring break to work on assignments, but I just sat around most of the week. Towards the end of it, I started thinking about one of my linguistics classes (English and its Social Settings) and the ten page term paper that we had to write for it. I vaguely remembered being given the option of turning it in before spring break in order to get it back quicker. So, it would be due pretty soon after spring break. My silly mind rationalized that it would be due on Friday, which is our section day (Monday and Wednesday are lecture days, then we break up into smaller classes under a TA for Friday), so as to keep each section's papers separate from the other's. My other lecture/section classes have worked that way.

The Sunday before spring break ends comes around. I have class the next day, so I figure I better dig out my syllabus and check. Hmmm . . . term paper due Monday, 3/19. Ooooooh crap. I spent the entire day researching for the paper (I chose to write on the humor in Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest) and the entire night writing it. Seriously, I did not sleep at all. I spaced out quite a bit, but I never slept. The class started at 9:40, I finished at 10 and stumbled into class, showerless, to turn in the darn thing. My professor's very easy-going, though, so being late didn't really matter.

Then, I had a project due on Wednesday in my Language and Gender class. It was actually really interesting to write, but I just wasn't in the mood until about 9 the night before. Then, when I went to put the papers of my classmates together into one coherent piece, I ran into a little hitch. One of the group members had used footnotes, and I had no idea what rules applied to them. After a while, I gave up and just printed it out as is. We also had to give a presentation, which I felt went well.

So, I did not really catch up on my sleep at all this week. Saturday night, I came home around 10 pm to catch up on my sleep and because I was feeling a little icky (food poisoning, I believe). My roommate was there, practicing her guitar. After a while, she got a phone call. The person on the other line was obviously drunk. She left, and I shrugged it off, since the only one who ever calls her is her boyfriend.

I actually was about to go to bed at around midnight (a miracle for a weekend) when I ran into another hitch. When I pulled on the string to the florecent light above my roommate's bed, the string came completely off. 0.o I was dumbstruck for a few minutes. Now, it's midnight on a Saturday night. There's someone downstairs watching the desk in case of emergency, but I know from experience that the desk attendants tend to be incompetant. It will take at least two hours for someone to come, if the desk attendant even knows what number to call. So, with the light still on, I figure out how to take the light cover off and stare at the inside. After a bit of poking and proding, I figure out a way to get the bulbs out. It involved poking a black bit of plastic near the wiring while tugging on the long bulb itself. It sparked quite a bit as I tugged. 0.o A bit scary, actually. But, I managed to get both bulbs out without dying or shocking myself too much.

Just before I went to sleep, my roommate returned and I explained the situation to her. She had her own story to tell. Apparently, her boyfriend had gotten so wasted that he couldn't get back to his dorm room alone. Then, he dropped his room key in the elevator shaft. -__- So, she had him in our dorm's lounge on the couch and was planning to spend the night with him to make sure he was alright. Personally, I wouldn't date a guy who drinks in the first place, let alone someone who would put me through all that crap.

Ah, college life. Bzzzt!

Two Whole Years . . .
last modified: Thursday, March 15, 2007 (10:00:22 PM CST)
I've been collecting cels for an entire two years as of today. At least, that's what the purchase date on my first cel says, which could be slightly off. Either way, March 15th will now be the official celebration date (if the early Christians can do it . . .)

So, I updated a bit to celebrate. You can check out new stuff in Escaflowne, HxH, GTO, and Eden's Bowy. As of today, everything in my possesion is up. It's been quite a while since I've been able to claim that.

Now it's just a question of what will happen first--my gallery's birthday, or hitting the big 10K. Maybe they'll happen around the same time! Hey, it could happen. I've got a couple of months to make it happen. ^_~

In other news, it looks like my spring break trip is off. ;_; Ah, well. Tonight, I'm at my parents' house because I got a little confused about my brother's birthday. I can remember everyone else in my family's special day, but for some reason, I'm never sure if my brother's is on the 15th, 16th, or 17th. My mom told me they would be celebrating his birthday tonight, but apparently there was a bit of a miscommunication, because his birthday is tomorrow. -__- He wanted his present today, though.

The Happy Ending
last modified: Monday, March 12, 2007 (11:20:47 PM CST)
Okay! It's been a bit of a tough road, though not in comparison to what others go through, I'm sure.

I got hired for a new job last Friday. I've got to wait for my paperwork to go through, and then I can start actually working again. Around Febuaray 27th my boss from my old job contacted me and told me that she would not be needing any help until March 27th. -__- Now, I was slightly irritated at the 2.5 hours a week, but no work was a little too much. I mean, I have a cell phone bill to pay, plus gas, car insurance, and food to buy. So, I started to look for a new job in ernest--sending out a couple of applications a day.

I had two interviews last Thursday. At the first one, the interviewer was extremely friendly and pretty much hired me after asking two questions. At the second, the head HR manager was not in for the day, so I just got a tour of the building. It was so frickin' awesome! I could not help but think about how neat it would be to work in that building--it's a science research building, and is set up in such an interesting way. The HR manager who showed me around was incredibly friendly as well. She even introduced me to some people who work in marketing for the center when she heard that I was getting my degree in English.

So, I had to come back the next day for the actual interview. The head HR manager was . . . not the friendliest person in the world. I do not think she smiled once until the very end of the interview. Basically, she did not want to hire me because I could not work during the summer, and I was unsure about next fall since I really need to get some real world experience under my belt (ala internships). I was a little upset, just because the center was so amazing (very tight security too--they literally had retina scanners 0.o), but now that I've thought about it, if she was going to be my overall boss, I do not know if I would enjoy my time there.

So, anyway, I'll probably start my new job tomorrow, work until Wednesday, and then go out of town on Thursday. I mean, I've got to do something for spring break! Even if I don't drink and have no desire to go to Rocky Point while so many drunk Americans are down there . . . By the way, the dorms are incredibly quiet during spring break! ^_~

But my job is not the only happy ending! Some of you may remember my month from heck last semester. If you don't, I basically got my Ipod and my bike stolen from me within a two week period. Well, I've borrowed kymaera's bike for a while--neither one of us really knows for how long, but I'll eventually give it back. ^_~ I just have trouble finding it because it's blue and has no real distinguishing features. My old bike had a basket on the back with a Homer-as-King-Kong figure attached to the back, courtesy of my father. Then, for Christmas, I got a nice little present from Tex-chan--an Ipod replacement! It has more gigs than my old one, and my little brother told me that the back looks better than my old one. ^.^ Now that it's warming up I just need to find a clip or something for it so I can ride my bike with it. I used to put it in my jacket pocket, but with highs close to 90 degrees, it will be a bit too warm to carry it that way.

Anyway, things look like they're starting to pick up. Thank you to everyone who has lent me support in the past while, especially kymaera and Tex-chan. Oh, and we can't forget Leah's random gift of portable Hawaii, now can we? ^_~ I hope everyone out there is doing alright.

I Hate My Job
last modified: Friday, February 16, 2007 (12:18:57 PM CST)
Okay. I lied. I don't hate it. I love it. But you know, that's part of what has got me so distressed today.

I am helping work on a research project with bilingual first graders. They are the sweetest little things you'll ever see. They call me teacher when I pass in the hall, and the little girls come up to hug me. ^_^ Well, I will admit that I was a little scared of that fact at first. I could not help but think, "Wa-wait . . . Is this allowed?" America is so scared of people taking advantage of their children that touch has become very taboo, especially in the school systems. But then I reminded myself that I was working with a completely different culture--one in which touch and other physically loud interactions are much more of a norm and not seen as a precursor to rape. Anyway . . .

I guess I should have known from my first day. I drove all the way into a major city (about a twenty minute drive) showed up at the school we were supposed to be at, and no one was there. 0.o After calling my boss, I found out that the school had not had any children ready for testing, so the research group had been cancelled for the day. They had not even bothered to call me--or email me, for that matter. There's some gas wasted. ;_; The rest of that pay cycle, however, everything went pretty well.

But this week, I worked a total of 2.5 hours. I'm sorry. I can't live off of $25 a week. I've got a cellphone, a car, and I've got to eat. This is crap.

Plus, I just got my first paycheck. During the interview, I was told I'd be making $9 an hour. That's a step up from my old job, plus it's pretty decent for a college student given the area I live in. During training, she told us that we'd been bumped up to $10 an hour. My paycheck comes . . . and it's short. Given the number of hours I worked, they only paid me $9 an hour. *sigh* Now I need to find out how much I'm really making, and who screwed up.

So, it looks like I'm going to have to be looking for another job. You know, I really wish I had known that it would be this way before I took the stupid job. Since we're pretty far into the semester already, it is going to be tough. That is, if I want a job on campus. *siiiigh*

Don't be surprised if I start selling a few cels in the near future. I'd much rather not touch my savings this semester. This sucks. Really.

I'm Done!
last modified: Friday, December 15, 2006 (1:45:48 AM CST)
The semester is over. Finally. I cannot believe how incredibly long that semester felt. >.< Let's just say that it did not get off to a good start, and things went downhill from there. I've had all sorts of roommate troubles, an extremely busy class schedule, and most recently, a string of thefts (not to mention a string of four finals in two days ;_;).

But, I am glad to say that I am finally finished with this semester! On Monday, I had an English literature final, and since I had opted to take that class for honors credit, I also had a twelve page paper due the same day. I got to nine, printed that out, and rushed to class. For some reason, my mind had decided that the test was scheduled to start at 12:40. Makes sense, since most classes at my university start at either a forty or fifeteen minute mark. I left my dorm at 12:39, pedaled like the wind, and made it to the lecture room by 12:45. On the way, I noticed the lack of people milling about campus, and felt slightly worried. It turns out that my concern was securly rooted--the test started at 12:20. Luckily, I finished about two minutes before time was up.

Then, I slinked up to my lecture professor, who I had been working with on my paper and who was sitting next to the grad student assigned to my section. I told him that I only had nine pages, and the others were handwritten but not typed yet (only a half fib, as I did have about another page's worth of stuff at home). Let me tell you, this has been one of the most frustrating papers I have written. The professor tore apart my first draft, and trivialized my second. I was pissed at him. Truth be told, I deserved everything he dished out--my paper did not really have a thesis until Sunday afternoon. When I explained my predicament, he said that it was alright, and to email it to him and my section leader, and take some time to polish it up. 0.0 I have never had icky feelings towards a person so quickly reversed before.

I didn't work on the paper that night, as I had another English final (in linguistics) the next day. But . . . I didn't study for that final, either. I went to my church's Christmas party instead. I went to sleep around nine, planning to get up early to study. It's really hard to get up when it's cold. So, I went to work for a couple of hours, and spent about twenty minutes studying, and even then only half-heartedly. It showed when I went to take the test. I swear I got less than a seventy percent. There were only about eleven or so questions, and I completely blanked on a couple. I literally went home and cried. I had determined that I would email my professor and beg for some extra credit, since this would most definately drop my A to a B. For such an easy class, I would hate myself for getting a B. Plus, I'm trying to keep my major GPA a 4.0. Luckily, I didn't make a fool of myself in an email. Grades for that class are the only ones out right now. I got an A. ^_^

Tuesday night after taking the linguistics final but before grades were posted, I slept from about 7:00pm to 10:00pm and got up to finish that paper. I was awake until 5:30. 0.o I was having a hard time focusing at first, so I doubt that I actually started working on the thing until about 2 or 3am. Then, when I finally got into bed around 5:45am, I had the hardest time sleeping. I doubt I got to sleep until 6:30 or so. Then, a phone call woke me up around 9am, and I was off to start another day. Exhausting!

So anyway, now, I'm done with school, and back at my parents'. I moved everything over today. It wa exhausting. I've never had to do that by myself before. ;_; But, ever since my parents bought me a nice little clunker, they've expected me to do a lot more for myself. Luckily, I was able to get my mom to pick up my (read: kymaera's) bike. It was no fun fitting that into my car the first time, and my car was full enough as it is!! 0.o I had to bring my cels and anime home, after all. ^_~

Even More Official
last modified: Monday, November 27, 2006 (4:25:55 PM CST)
People really suck.

For those of you who did not read my last weblog, less than two weeks ago someone stole my ipod at work (by the way, thanks for the support from those of you who commented in my last weblog *hugs*).

It has not been my day. Or week, or month for that matter. This morning, I left my dorm to go to class, and I discovered that my bike was missing. Apparently, someone went Black Friday shopping with an industrial wire cutter. >:(

I looked all over the bike racks in my complex. It's just not there. Right now, I'm dealing with police reports and the like, but we never thought to write down the serial number, so it's very unlikely that I will ever get it back.

*siiiiigh* I do not have the money to buy a new one right now. I might end up having to sell stuff to raise $100 for a new bike. ;_; I would rather not, but I need a bike.

To top things off, my professor returned the first draft of my paper to me. He basically tore it apart. >.<

On a brighter note, Perv-chan sent me a present. It's a hula dancing doll for my dash, and her name is Leilani. So, Perv-chan does not suck. XD

Okay, It's Official
last modified: Wednesday, November 15, 2006 (6:45:20 PM CST)
People suck.

No, really, they do. My Ipod got stolen at work today. It was kind of my fault for leaving it on the desk where anyone could see it, but I'm still really upset about it.

It wasn't that nice a piece of equipment, either. It was well over a year old, and dirty and scratched up from use. It has a bad battery that says it's out of charge when it really isn't, and then remembers it has some charge left a few hours later.

But I liked it! ;_;

I guess I just was wondering what this world is coming to when someone feels the need to steal a beat-up Ipod from a student. The office I work in is pretty nice, too. Anyone working there could afford better than my piece of crap. The office is situated out of the way, has about three employees, and other professionals who pop in and out every so often. Not many students come through at all. If there were more students, this turn of events would not shock me as much as it did and would not upset me in the way that it has (I would be upset in an entirely different way ^_^). Before the thing went missing, I was away from my desk for all of ten minutes--if that.

I honestly don't need this right now. I've got a twelve page paper and a story I need to have done for Monday and a Spanish presentation for Tuesday. I'm stressed, to say the least.

I am seriously hoping that I'm just being a ditz, like usual. Maybe I'll walk into work tomorrow and the stupid thing will be sitting next to my computer because I was an idiot and did not look properly. Heck, I was half hoping that I would come home and find it hooked up to my computer. I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow.

But for now, people suck.

Now I've got to go start some research, though I don't know how much I can get done in my frame of mind.

Three Down, One to Go!
last modified: Saturday, October 14, 2006 (1:03:41 AM CST)
Why do the fast food workers always look at me so strangely when I say that? 0.o

Seriously, as of today, I'm finished with three of the four midterm-type stuff I had to do. Now, I just have a paper on Great Expectations that's due on Monday, and I will be done with the insanity. For a while, at least. ^_~

Right now, I'm scanning in Leah's present to me. I've also got some scans sitting on my computer that need to be added to my gallery. Plus, my consilation cels that I mentioned a few blogs back came in. They're gorgeous! Sadly, they're also chicks. But I haven't seen too many pretty boys that I've wanted to pick up lately, so I'm happy with what I've got.

I have noticed lately that my collecting tends to go through cycles. When I see a cel I like from a series, I tend to scour the internet searching for more cels from that series. Seeing new anime only makes it worse.

What am I in the mood for right now? A really nice Leorio. I want one where he's looking cool and serious. That way, I can keep up my illusion that he isn't just the great big goof he acts like for the majority of the series. Which he isn't . . . but it's hard to find moments in which he proves that.

So, scanning for tonight, and maybe I'll upload some cels to my gallery tomorrow as kind of a break from real writing.

Hugs for Perv-chan and Roy!!!!
last modified: Tuesday, October 10, 2006 (12:00:45 AM CST)
Cel buds are the best. ^_^ The only problem is that when they send me stuff, I have one heck of a time convincing my family that I didn't buy it!

Yesterday, I received a care package full of Daa! Daa! Daa! cels from the one and only Perv-chan (with Roy as an accomplice). I could not be happier! It just felt so good that someone cared enough about me to think of me like that. So major hugs to them! ^_~

Now, sadly, this weblog is going to be shorter than usual. It's midterms week, and I've got a lot of stuff to do. Besides that, I didn't get much sleep last night, so I image that what I'm writing is slightly helter-skelter and not exactly up to par. Sorry!

Oh, and just as a sidenote . . . does someone want to go give my new Kurapica cel some lovin'? He's been up over 24 hours and not a single hit! 0.o Poor dejected boy. ;_;

Grocery Shopping and the Question of the Day
last modified: Monday, September 25, 2006 (10:52:29 PM CST)
Wow. Talk about raising the dead. I haven't written in here for a long, looong time. A combination of being too busy and the fact that about only two people seemed to comment . . . and I've been emailing those two people pretty regularly, so it seemed a little redundant to post one of these.

Anyway, things have been sort of quiet on the cel front lately. I suffered a devastating loss on Sunday morning. But that actually means that more cels will start flowing in soon, since I spent some money getting myself a couple consilation prizes. ^_^ I'll probably be spending some more in the next few days.

Anyway . . . I've got a strange little story to tell. Enjoy!

I tend to have the most interesting experiences when I go grocery shopping.

Now, for those of you who don't know, my only means of transportation is my bike, so whenever I need something, I have to ride to get it. Anyway, I was coming back from the grocery store, waiting at a crossroads for the light to change, when a bus stopped nearby and let off some passengers. I didn't pay it too much notice. Then, this really dirty, scruffy-looking guy in his late-thirties started staring at me.

He said, "You're loaded, aren't you?" and continued to stare.

I couldn't really understand what he was referring to. The baskets behind my seat were full of groceries, but that was all I could think of. He kept staring at me, so I stared right back.

Maybe I shouldn't have made eye contact.

So, he came closer to me and grabbed my hand. 0.o I pulled away super quick.

He scowled and said, "What? Am I that f***ing weird?!"

Ummmm . . .

Ummmm . . .

"I just don't like strangers touching me."

"But you're beautiful!"

He was still staring at me, and started looking me up and down as he circled around me and my bike. I didn't take my eyes off him. Apparently, he noticed he was making me nervous, because by the time he had made it to the opposite side of where he started, he tried to reassure me.

"I'm leaving now, okay?!"

The light changed. I went west, and I assume he went east. Either way, I was on a bike, and there was no way he could follow me all the way home on foot.

This is not the first time something like this has happened. None of the other bums ever tried to touch me, though. The first time, I went home and cried like a baby.

Now, the question of the day is . . . why the heck can't I attract men my age? Or at least ones who take showers!!! :P *siiiigh*

It's Tuesday!!!
last modified: Tuesday, January 17, 2006 (11:21:55 AM CST)
Now, before you all start saying, "Of course it is, you silly girl," or maybe something worse, believe me, it makes a difference when you are in college. For some reason, at one this morning, I thought that I would be going to my Monday classes today, so I planned accordingly.

I got up at 7:30 this morning to try to switch some of my classes to more reasonable hours--they are spread out far too much. Nothing was available. I guess it serves me right for waiting so long to get my schedule done. So, I'm stuck with what I have for the moment.

Then, I started getting ready for my 9:40 class. I was just about to leave when I realized that it is Tuesday. Yep, Tuesday. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, my only class is Japanese, and it doesn't start until 11:40. 0.o Two extra hours.

So, I decided to take the time to try to figure out my new scanner. Maybe you'll see some new cels up today. ^_^ Then, again, you might not. I'm trying, but I'm not sure how it will go.

Anyway, I will not have all that much to do today. So, I am resolving right here and now to start looking for a job. Don't get me wrong, I already have a job. But I hate it, and all of the benefits that came with it are slowly dissapearing. It's getting to be where it is not worth the stress. Believe me, I will be able to find a less stressful job. I'll have to start off at a lower pay rate, I'm sure, but I do not mind. Anyway, I have a lot of daytime hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I figure that I should be able to get something on campus. That would be great.

As far as cel purchases go, there is a certain cel set that I am watching on YJ. It's from one of my normal series, but most definately not one of my normal characters. Suffice it to say that I am going to more than double my bidding limit, and if I win, I will never need another cel of her. ^_^ Then, I'll have to step out of cel collecting for a while. I'll use my deposit on SMJ to help pay for her just so I will not be tempted by more pretties. I won't be dropping out of the community or anything--I'll just be holding back from buying for a while. I've also got a deal in the works with an RS member, so I'm sure that I will be quite satisfied with my incoming cels. Plus, I've got some stuff in storage that I need to send for--but only once I win this cel set and it arrives at the storage unit. ^_~

Now, I'm going back to trying to figure out my scanner. Hmmmm . . .

Wrapping Up
last modified: Sunday, December 25, 2005 (12:12:24 AM CST)
Well, it's Christmas Eve, and we've already opened the traditional one-present-on-Christmas-Eve. Right now, some of the older kids are helping set out the presents from Santa. Personally, I've had enough wrapping to last me a lifetime. :x

I had to be at work at 5:30 this morning. I was supposed to get off work at 2:30, but I was there until about 3:50. Needless to say, I'm a little tired. I think that if I attempted to count the number of presents I've wrapped today at work alone, I might go insane. There were so many people doing last minute shopping today. Some were polite, but others were downright rude. One man even yelled at us to hurry up and wrap his stuff, because he had three more stores to go to today. So, how is that our fault? Maybe you should have done your Christmas shopping earlier. :P

My favorite people were those who came in and bought an obscene amount of gift cards. Christmas shopping, completed in five minutes. ^_^

I personally finished my Christmas shopping yesterday. That's right--I'm on top of things. Heh. I even finally picked out a present for a certain crotchety old man. Don't worry, I'm almost 100% positive that I'm safe mentioning that here. Considering how often he looks at galleries, I very much doubt he reads these things. Though I can completely see him reading it this one time just to be contrary. <.< >.> Shhhh. Don't tell. Now, my only worry is that we seem to be out of egg noodles at the moment . . . ahem. Before Perv-chan asks, no, it's not lingerie, a glass sex toy, or any other nookie producing/aiding device. :P Look! I'm using the new vocabulary I learned last week! Which reminds me . . . I really need to email Perv-kun. Maybe I'll get around to that next week.

Now, if the previous paragraph confused you, don't worry. Far too many inside jokes in there to count. ^_^

I should get back to the Christmas festivities real soon. I've got digital Christmas cards to make, and I'm trying really hard to convince my autistic brother that the new stove is my Christmas present, rather than my mother's. He's not buying it at the moment. :( In fact, right now he's reading Yugioh. "Episode 55: The Bewitching Mai. Next on the Japanese Channel." Everytime he gets to a new chapter, I hear a little announcement. Sometimes, he really cracks me up. ^_^

Merry Christmas!
Happy Hanekka!
Happy Kwanza!
Or, at the very least, enjoy the day off. ^_~

Maybe I'll have enough energy tomorrow for a special Christmas update. This is the longest I've ever had new cels without updating . . .

I'm Done!!!
last modified: Saturday, December 10, 2005 (12:12:49 AM CST)
Yep, it's over. I finished my finals today!! Of course, it was absolutely horrible, since finals are usually spread out over the course of a week or so, and all of mine were today. Yuck.

But, that also means that I'm done for the semester, which means that I get to go home! Go home and work my job . . . my job in retail. Yes, retail during the holiday season. You know what the worst part is? I work in the part of the store where everyone comes to get their presents wrapped. So, I am *definately* going to be sick of wrapping by the time Christmas is over.

As far as cels go, I sent away for my SMJ shipment about two weeks ago. They barely sent it out last Friday, and it still hasn't reached me. I'm getting nervous and thinking that it might have been lost in the post. That's an absolutely horrible thing to happen to a cel package! Especially considering the fact that it had a Dallet from Escaflowne in it. Dragonslayers are insanely hard to come by--especially close-ups. Sigh. I really, really want it to show up. I'm also scared that I might miss it if it does eventually make it through to my dorm. I am going home on Monday, and I have to turn in my key. Basically, the halls are closed until just before the start of spring semester.

Anyway, I've got to start cleaning up and packing stuff now. The floors have to actually be clean before I leave on Monday. 0.o I've got quite the chore ahead of me.

Lions and Tigers and Bears
last modified: Wednesday, November 02, 2005 (1:37:35 AM CST)
Or something like that. I've got so much to write about, but no idea where to start.

Hmmm . . . let's start with cels. As of tonight, I have everything up. But, I also have a package waiting for me on the north side of campus, so . . . Anyway, tonight I put up two cels that I was really excited to get. They were the cels I wrote about a couple of weblogs ago. So go check out Escaflowne and Ranma. ^_^ By the way, Leah knows me too well, since she guessed that one of the cels was Ryouga, and well--just go look!

I've been so busy the past couple weeks. Midterm time is officially over, but I got away without having to take any midterms. I just had ordinary tests and papers--which aren't any better. In less than a week, I had a Japanese test, a Spanish test, and two Spanish papers. One of those papers was on poetry, which I have a hard enough time with in English. Don't get me wrong, I always do very well when I write papers on poetry, I just have a very fuzzy understanding of the stuff, and often feel that I'm just making shots in the dark when I attempt to interpret it. Maybe that's just the way poetry works. Anyway, one of the papers was on a couple of poems in Spanish that have a lot of Japanese influence. I got a 99%, and my professor even congratulated me and one other classmate in front of the entire class. I felt kind of bad, since I wrote the thing in about five hours, and I really thought that the last point I made was just bs.

In other news, I got a new roommate. *sniff* I had my own room for about a week. The Friday after the first roommate moved out, I got a call from ResLife, and my new roommate showed up about fifteen minutes after the phone call. 0.o Talk about moving fast!! Apparently, she had moved into a room across the hall, but wasn't getting along too well with her roomie. So they stuck her with me. That Sunday, I helped her move her stuff from room to room. When she came in, the screensaver on my laptop was running all sorts of anime pics. She practically squealed in excitement. Apparently, she's an anime junkie, too. She's got a thing for Weiss Kreuz. So I might end up watching it sometime soon. My exact words to her were, "That's the one with the flower boys, right?" But she hasn't been sucked in as much as the majority of you guys. Some friends that she has in Finland have really gotten into Naruto, and the other night she asked me, "So have you heard of this . . . Na . . .ru . . . to?" Yes, silly girl.

We get along pretty well, though. She doesn't get up nearly as early, and she's quiet when she does get up. She also doesn't stay up much longer than I do, or use my microwave while I'm asleep. Plus, I think we've talked more in the couple of weeks that she's been here than both of my prior roommates combined. No naked boyfriends yet, either (sorry Leah).

So, Star Wars came out on DVD today. There was a showing of it right outside my dorm. On my way back from scanning my two new cels, I saw a guy wearing a Jedi robe heading to the showing. He was heading from the dorms on the north side of campus. Poor boy. They probably eat him alive up there. But, the best part is that they were giving away free pizza at the showing. My roomie and I went down. You had to get a ticket by showing your student id or room key. "Are you here for the show?" "Ummm, yeah." <.< >.> Then we grabbed some free pizza and headed back to our room. ^_^ There were jedi robes and light sabers everywhere. Honestly, there was a reason this showing was held in the middle of the honors dorms. The university doesn't need a bunch of nerds getting beat up by the drunken guys that populate the other dorms.

Even though I got my latest YJ shipment in, I'm not feeling too good. Maybe it has something to do with the realization that now I have to scan, clean, bag, and categorize about 30 cels. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that upon holding all of this merchandise in my hands, I realize how much I've spent over the summer. Ouch.

Putting all that aside, I think the real reason is that I am as sick as a dog right now. Dang cold's given me a stuffy nose and a headache. I've been eating Vitamin C as if it were candy for the past two days. Though I must admit that I take a small comfort in the fact that I know I can't OD on vitamin c. One of those random facts I actually remember from ninth grade biology. We also made yogurt. XD

Considering all that has happened in the world recently, I really shouldn't be complaining. But heck, I don't feel good. :P Guess I'm human after all. Ah well.

So I should have the new cels up in a couple days, right? My teatime with Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy will be wonderful as well. Weekends are the worst time for me. Honestly, I never have a day off; whether it be work, school, or visiting family, there's no one day of the week that I have completely free. But hey, that's just how the Real World is, right?

So the cels will be coming up in bunches. Hopefully, they'll all be scanned sometime next week. Highly unlikely, but I can dream, can't I?

As long as I'm at it, I might as well spam y'all. I'm selling some of the cels from my shipment, and a few from my collection. I bought a lot of sets in which I only wanted one of the cels, so this is the result. I started a thread about it on beta, so check it out:

You can contact me via feedback here on RS.

I Got Him!!
last modified: Tuesday, October 04, 2005 (11:33:26 AM CST)
I haven't been bidding on auctions lately, and I didn't buy anything from AnimeMuseum's sale, all because I had two auctions that I just *had* to have. One was a cel on Ebay I mention a few blogs back, and I won him this morning!!!! I'm sooo happy right now. Tired, but happy. ^_^

The other was on Mandarake. Actually, there were a few that I would have liked, but one that I was determined to get. With shipping, and at the current exchange rate, it's going to come out to a little over $98. I saw it's sequence mate go on YJ for close to $200, so I think I got a good deal. ^_^ Hopefully, the rate won't tank in the month that it takes Mandarake to run my debit card through. They say they can't take debit cards, but if it has a Visa logo, it works. It just takes about a month to go through, so I'm going to have to make sure that the money's there in a month's time, which means no major spending.

Sorry for being so cryptic, but I want them to be a surprise. I'm evil, aren't I?

There's just one more cel out there that I want right now, and after that, I really need to go on a diet. I've spent way too much over the summer. But these two latest have made me really happy, so I can't complain.

Born Free . . .
last modified: Saturday, October 01, 2005 (8:44:11 PM CST)
. . . and free once again. XD

A little over a month ago, I complained about how my roommate was keeping me up. It got so bad that I complained to my mom. Telling her is never good, because she always tries to solve my problems for me. So, anyway, she called the hall coordinator, who in turn called me. His only solution was to switch roommates. Personally, I liked my roommate. She was hardly ever there, and given her religion, I didn't have to worry about her coming back drunk on the weekend. So, I would rather deal with getting woken up at five in the morning rather than deal with the possibility of waking up with my roommate's naked boyfriend in the room. (I was going to write naked man, but I realized that some people might say that's not such a bad thing. <.< >.> You know who you are.)

Anyway, I got a voice mail from my roommate today. She got her own room!!!! When I got home from work, she had even moved out. ^_^ I have sooo much space now! Believe me, she was taking up a lot of space, most of which was my side of the room. Now, as long as they don't decide to put someone else in my room, I've got the place to myself. So if anyone's ever in Arizona . . . I'm not sure why you would be, but I've got a bed open if you want to relive your college days. Wait . . . that might not neccesarily be a good thing. XD

So now I'm free to do whatever I want whenever I want, without having to be considerate of my roommate. Yeah for watching Bleach without using headphones!! ^_^

As far as cels go, I have a Hitomi to put up, but she hasn't been scanned yet, since the computing commons were closed when I got off work last night. Wow, people actually do things on Friday nights? XD I spend those nights doing my homework for my class the next day. Silly me, signing up for a class on Saturday. In other cel news, I sent away for my SMJ package. It should be here early next week. But, I think I'm going to focus on weeding out the cels I didn't want out of the sets I bought before doing any major gallery updating. So look for some MMB and at least one Ranma up for sale/offer soon!

Now, I'm going to actually go and hang out with my friends from RL. Gasp! You mean klet actually has a life offline?! Heh, yep, but I've been ignoring it lately. Better go catch it before it dissapears. ^_~

Infection Successful
last modified: Wednesday, September 28, 2005 (1:51:43 AM CST)
In case you have no idea what I'm talking about, read the weblog I wrote a day or two ago. ^_^

Just to update on my carrier status, I wanted to report that my sister called me today just to tell me that I am evil. Apparently, instead of studying for her test last night (she's in college, too, by the way) she popped in the Bleach that I gave her. Then she watched all six episodes. HEH HEH HEH. <--note that that is supposed to be evil laughter

So she went out and bought some more CDs today, and is coming by on Thursday so she can get her fill of Bleach. Just in case you were wondering why she can't DL it herself, well, my parents only have dialup. >.< So one episode would probably take a month, whereas it takes me about twenty minutes--less if I get a good connection. Anyway, she's going to buy me food when she comes by. ^_^

Now that I'm about fifty episodes into the anime, I've finally picked a favorite character. Drumroll please. Uruhara!!! <.< >.> I reached that decision in the usual manner--I didn't like him when he first showed up, but he's grown on me.

Anyway, that's all I have to report for now. Oriwa!

I Am a Carrier
last modified: Monday, September 26, 2005 (1:46:47 AM CST)
Yes, I carry a deadly disease that has been spreading rampantly throughout the anime community. The disease has infected me, and I also became a carrier tonight. That's right, tonight I carried my Bleach VCDs over to my parents' house and delivered the first six episodes to my sisters.

They are in danger of becoming addicted already. Actually, I told them that I probably couldn't bring the rest of the episodes over, since I discovered that only three will fit on a CD, and I do not have a DVD burner. But . . . my sister offered to buy me a pack of CDs just so that I can burn the rest of the episodes for her. XD I am slowly but surely spreading the addiction.

Sadly, though, they're going to have to watch them on the computer like everyone else. My sis got a new DVD player that is supposed to play every kind of video imaginable, including DivX, etc. We popped the CD in, and while it did play, the sound gave off some horrible feedback, especially when people were yelling. Not the best setup for Bleach. XP It's sad, because I was really looking forward to watching it on TV.

As far as cels go, I've been doing nothing but losing auctions lately. I've got a cel ending on Ebay in nine days, but I've got no money. It's a major wishlist. Seriously, I've seen this exact cel end three separate times, all at a little higher than I was willing to pay. But I'm familiar with the seller, and I know he always relists at a lower price. Heck, I even got up at 4am one day to watch it end and make sure no one bid on it. Then came nearly a month of no relisting. I was scared that I'd never see it again, and I looked for it every day on ebay. Finally, it was relisted, but someone's bid on it already. I want it, but I am so broke!! I really need to get used to living on a school time budget, since I can't work that many hours while attending classes. Ugh, what's a girl to do?! I guess we'll find out in nine days.

The Worst Message Ever
last modified: Friday, September 23, 2005 (9:17:28 PM CST)
So apparently my mom called me yesterday and left a voicemail. I didn't notice it until this morning, but decided not to check it until my classes were done. I cannot express my graditude that I did not. I had a Japanese test, and had I checked it this morning, I would most definately not been able to concentrate on studying or taking the test. Silly as it sounds, I was, and still am, distressed enough as it is.

What could have gotten me so upset? "I might not be able to come pick you up Sunday, because I crushed my car." WHAT??!!!! No, I was not upset about the fact that I might not be able to wash my clothes for free this week (though normally that would be distressing). I hadn't the slightest idea what was happening, and after several unanswered phone calls home, I was really starting to panic. She had said absolutely nothing about if anyone was hurt or not, and now, no one was answering the phone. It was scary. Even though my mom had called, that didn't mean that she was alright. Accident victims often go into shock, and she could have been injured without realizing it, though I imagine it would not be a serious injury.

So I spent about three hours this afternoon trying to call home. I have two sisters and three brothers at home, any one of which could have been in the car with her. I was so frantic that I called out from work, because there is no way I could do what I do if I was that emotionally imbalanced. Finally, I plopped down and started mindlessly watching TV.

Then, my phone rang. Such a wide range of emotions rose up within me when I recognized the number. I answered it in our floor's kitchen, and I must have looked positively awful, because my RA asked me if I was alright and started rubbing my back. I even started crying at some point in the conversation with my mom.

Everyone is fine. When she was hit, she was alone in the car. However, the entire passenger side was completely smashed in, and the back window blew out. Only about five minutes before, my mom had my little sister and several of her friends in the car--she was giving rides to a church softball game. Someone was watching out for those girls, I assure you. The car probably isn't salvageble, but that's the least of our worries right now.

So, I'm feeling quite tired from my surge of emotions. I think I'll go to sleep right now . . . or maybe actually do my homework for my class tommorrow.

Moral of the story: Don't leave cryptic messages.

Necesito aprender
last modified: Tuesday, September 20, 2005 (9:32:52 PM CST)
For those of you who don't speak a word of Spanish, the title means "I need to learn." What could she possibly need to learn, you ask? Or maybe the first thought that pops into your mind is "EVERYTHING!!" Well, you may be on to something there.

But what I was really thinking was that I need to learn how to type in Spanish. I've been studying the language for nearly seven years now. Wow . . . I just realized what a long time it's been.

So I had to write two essays in Spanish--one was analyzing a piece of Latin American literature, the other was analyzing the effects of Precolombian cultures on Latin American countries. As my computer has always on internet access, for some reason I had a very hard time actually working. Hmmm, I wonder why? Could it be that I was looking at cels? Changing my gallery around? Downloading more Bleach? XD So, I took it upon myself to cut off my internet connection. I had to actually leave the room. Yes, there is something more addicting than cel collecting.

So I wrote the essays out by hand. Naturally, they needed to be typed up, so I sat down with my scribbles to begin. The problem was, as I read the scribbles in Spanish, most of what I read in my mind came out on the computer in English. O_O Not good, to say the least. So, most of the time spent on my essays I spent chicken-pecking them out onto the computer. All my lovely quick-typing skills wasted. >.<

So, I only got a few hours of sleep last night. Feeling good is not in my vocabulary at the moment. The funny thing is, I understood my 412 Spanish professor more than ever today. Maybe she's the kind that you need to be slightly woozy to comprehend.

Maybe my lack of sleep explains this weblog. It really meanders around without a point, doesn't it? Or maybe it's the fact that I'm in the middle of an "email conference" with some of my classmates from Japanese. We have to come up with the dialogue for a skit, and we're doing it all via email. They're taking forever!!! I mean, it only has to be 12 lines long. I'd much rather be doing homework than waiting around for them to reply.

Don't listen to me--I'd much rather be watching Bleach right now. I just finished 40. Another cliffie!!! I hate those!!! *sniff*

Decisions, Decisions
last modified: Saturday, September 17, 2005 (11:32:58 PM CST)
So it's Saturday night, and I have confined myself to my room. Why? Simple, really. I have a paper due Monday and then another on Tuesday--both in Spanish. That's right, I just so happen to be taking two upper-division Spanish courses. My silly mind figured that since I haven't chosen my major yet, I might as well finish my Spanish minor. XP One more class after this semester, and I'm only a sophmore. Bleh.

Anyway, instead of actually working, I've been messing around with my gallery--tweaking it here and there. I'm so weak-willed. But at least I'm staying off beta . . . for now. We all know how long that'll probably last.

So, long story short (or as short as I make 'em), I've added gifs to the top of the following cel sections:

Saint Tail

Now I desperately need your help--I'm not too sure if I like them. Give me your honest opinion. They're not my creations, so I don't mind if you hate them--like I said, I haven't made up my mind. Tell me if they suck. Tell me if you love them. Tell me a way to make them better. Honestly, this page isn't really for my enjoyment. I hardly ever look at it. If I want to see my cels, I pull out the books. ^_^ So I really only keep this thing up and add to it for the enjoyment of others, which is why I want your honest opinion.

BTW, we're only talking about the gifs on those pages I mentioned. Everything else I actually worked to put together, so I enjoy it very much. :P So if you hate anything else, keep it to yourself. :P j/k ^_^

On a side note, when I was messing around with the centering on these, I think I made my counter go up a gazillion times. XD

As long as I'm blogging, I'm going to ask another question. How the heck do you see the cels for sale at Usagi's House? Every time I go there and click on the Cel Shop, it takes me back to the front page with all the payment info. Sorry, but that info.'s useless to me unless I can see what you're selling. XD I've tried all the endings I can think of:

etc., but none of them work. I seem to remember seeing a cel I wanted there . . .

The Lengths We All Go to
last modified: Wednesday, September 14, 2005 (5:43:03 PM CST)
Have you ever noticed that once you get an idea in your head, you will often go to tremendous lengths just to get what you desire? Believe me, I'm no exception.

About two weeks ago, I was out shopping when I noticed that the brownie mixes were on sale. Now, normally, I never buy sweets while I'm at college, because that means I'd have to pay for them. :P I have this weird adversion from paying a lot of money for food, especially for food I don't neccesarily need. That simple fact explains why I gain so much weight when I go home for the summer or winter break. But, I was just back in school, meaning that the eating habits I developed over the summer were still in effect. So I picked one up on a whim, along with some vegetable oil.

Upon arriving home at my dorm, I suddenly received an epiphany--I have no cake pan. All I have is a pot and a skillet. No problem, I'll just borrow one from the desk. But when I get there, the only way that they're better off than me is that they have a cookie sheet and a cupcake pan--not your best brownie-makers. So I forget it for about a week.

But I now have this box of brownie mix staring at me from the top shelf in my dorm. Every so often, it calls to me. Now, I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with an entire plate of brownies. I might eventually finish them off. So I was completely open to the idea of sharing them if another would share her cake pan with me. So I put up a note, as I'm not sure who has pans on my floor. I tend to eat at strange hours, so I hardly ever see anyone else cooking their food.

The note is up for a while, and I noticed a pair of cake pans sitting in our shared kitchen sink. Okay, I have no idea who they belong to, but surely they've seen my note on the fridge. But no one answers it, and the pans remain in the sink. One day, two, three . . . I finally decide that if they're there the next day, I'm going to wash one myself, make my brownies, and greedily hoard them until I manage to polish them off.

Today is the appointed day. I washed the pan, set the oven to pre-heat, and scurried off to my room, (temporarily) pilfered pan in tow. Upon reaching my room, I discover one more crucial fact--I have no large bowl in which to mix these puppies. But . . . I have a pot!!!! I happy pour my ingredients into a stovetop pot, humming as I go. I also do not possess a whisk or large spoon-like mixing implement. But I have a cereal spoon! So my brownies are now in the oven, and they should be done in about five minutes.

Back to the original point of the post, think of all the crap we go through to get things in life, whether it be sweets, cels, anime, or just "your way." We lose sleep, we loose money, we loose patience. We go through five minutes of agonizing torture waiting for the auction on ebay/YJ to end. *refresh* *refresh* *refresh* Sometimes, that five minutes turns into half an hour, but we don't even realize it. We pouce on sale/offer periods, waiting for that reply email, terrified that someone got there before us--I'm sure this feeling was a lot more rampant in the days of amazing dealer updates. But you know what? It's worth it in the end. When you open that package and smell that paint, when you chuckle at the lines coming out of Kon's mouth, when you hear someone say, "Okay, you're right." And you know what? I'm sure going to enjoy my brownies. They should be done by now. Hmmm . . . I don't think I have a hotpad . . .

Finally Finished ^_^
last modified: Tuesday, September 06, 2005 (8:56:54 PM CST)
Okaaaay, let's try this again. I did write out a long weblog, but then RS didn't add it properly the first time (it usually doesn't). Every other time, however, I've just hit the back button and tried again. This time, all my writing had disappeared. *sniff*

Anyway, I've finally finished a couple of things that have been on my plate for a while. I'm so relieved. ^.^

1. I finished scanning and uploading all of my cels from my Rinkya shipment. Okay, so I've only had to do this for about a week now, but I'm always itching to put new things up.

2. All of my cels are finally in their own cel bag, cleaned and safe from harm. I am definatly sick of doing that right now, but it's done, so I'm happy. The bad thing is that I forgot to pick up my empty cel book while I was at home, so I've nowhere to put the little buggers. I guess I'll just have to pick it up next weekend. Then comes the great organizing. I'm going to actually put all of my cels from the same show together, so that I get some form of organization.

The scary thing is, I'm going to have to do this all over again when I get my shipment from SMJ. Besides that, I'm going to have to do some major weeding out. I bought a lot of cels in sets, and sometimes all I wanted was one of cels in the set. So, expect to see some MMB and one or two Ranma up for grabs in the next month or so.

3. I finally started watching Bleach. I'm rather enjoying it so far. I especially love what Karin calls her big brother--Ichi-nii. Another pun on his name, just like 15. Basically, the humble word for big bro is ani. When you talk to your own big brother, you usually call him nii with some variation of an honorific on it:

You get the idea . . .

But, the word ni is two, so basically, she's calling him 1, 2. ^-^ I laughed out loud the first time I heard it.

Anyway, so I got some stuff out of the way. Now, maybe I should go do my homework . . .

Where'd my Gallery Go? :,(
last modified: Thursday, September 01, 2005 (9:51:02 PM CST)
Sooo, I updated today. Normally, I don't devote a weblog to updates, but for some reason, my gallery dissapeared off the home page.

Ummm, I'm not sure what happened. Junior's House 'O Cels updated at 6:09, I updated at 7:08, and Shinigami's Cels updated at 8:20. But my gallery is nowhere to be seen. It was there before those other galleries updated . . .

So, I've made an executive decision--I deserve more front page time!!!! XD If you click on "More Updated Galleries >>" you'll see mine right there between Junior's House 'O Cels and Shingami's Cels.

Anyway, go ahead and check out my new Ranma cels!!!

I'll Get You My Pretty--and Your Little Panda, too!!! pt. 2
last modified: Wednesday, August 31, 2005 (2:47:05 AM CST)
Ummm, I guess I wrote too much, so please read the post below for full rant. Thanks. :)

End of the Story:

So, anyway, I have my pretties now. They include my first Ryouga cel, and he came with a cel of the Scribbled Panda, hence the title of these blogs. ^.~

I went down to the computer commons (aka computers the whole university shares) to scan them. Boy did I get some strange looks. Yes, I am carrying around a plastic box full of painted plastic. Yes, it is worth a couple hundred dollars. Yes, I am scanning said pieces of plastic. XD

So, anyway, almost all of them are scanned, but I'm not updating tonight. I'm tired, and I used my homework time to scan, so I really need to start my homework. G'night!!!

I'll Get You My Pretty--and Your Little Panda, too!!!!
last modified: Wednesday, August 31, 2005 (2:40:20 AM CST)
*Though RS might say that this blog was posted on 8/31, I actually typed it on 8/30. So, all of these events happened yesterday. Silly time difference. XD*

I finally got my Rinkya shipment in today--after a complete and total runaround yesterday. So I'm happy--but mildly irritated all at once.

So apparently, the USPS express person tried to deliever on Sunday. Since I'm living on campus, all of the mail goes through the UPS store on campus, about a mile from my dorm. Since I'm in what's comsidered an "outpost" dorm, they don't deliever my mail until about 5:30-5:45; the UPS store closes at 6:00.

Now, I've had experience with foreign packages coming in to the dorms. I usually get a pink slip in my mailbox, then I have to get my butt down to the post office and pick it up. I've never had EMS shipped here before, but I figured the same rules would apply. Anyway, when I saw that they had tried to deliever on Sunday (which in and of itself sounds weird), I figured I'd try to avoid the crap that the UPS store puts me through and just go over to the store to pick up my pink slip.

I've been told before that if I bring the tracking number, I can pick up packages no matter what. Apparently, that's not true. After spending about ten minutes explaining to the worker what I wanted, she tried looking up the number and apparently it "hadn't been processed yet." Well, okay, so I'll just go down to the post office, because I know that if you let EMS sit too long, they'll send it back--and I'm not paying an extra $60 to have it shipped again.

So, I decide to leave around 4:00--it gives me enough time to get to post office before it closes, and avoid the last minute package-senders and mid-day heat. So I get on my bike to begin the four-five mile ride down to the post office. Now, for some reason, there's a closer post office that is in a better neighborhood, but we use the one that's about five miles away. I start heading east, avoiding all eye contact as this is the street I've had more transients hit on me than anywhere else, and start feeling a little sore in my arms. My brother had just put a new seat on the bike, and it was annoying, but not too bad. Despite my late start, it's still probably around 105-110 degrees, and I'm getting that, "Oh crap, did I pass it?" feeling that I always get when I head to this particular post office.

So, with a nice lovely sheet of sweat running down my forehead, and my arms aching, I head into the post office to find a huge line. XP Luckily, there was a worker who was only doing package pick-ups--so no waiting for me. I give her the tracking number, but she can't find it. Appaerntly, it's still on the express truck. But, she says I can come back at 7:00 am the next day and it will definately be there. So my five mile ride is fruitless . . . and I've got another five miles to go.

On the way back, I become thoroughly convinced that my bike seat is on wrong, because I am putting far too much pressure on my arms--they actually still are a little sore. When I hit a red light, I reach back for my water and discover that it has become the temperature of those famous outdoor Japanese baths. X0 So by the time I get home, my arms are in excrutiating pain, I've got a steady stream of sweat running down my face (attractive, ne?), and I'm pretty sure that the tops of my feet are sunburnt where they weren't protected by my flip-flops. At least, it felt like they were getting burnt the whole way home.

So, what the heck, I decide to get up early (not that I'm getting any sleep with my roommate the way she is) this morning and head down to the post office before class. I decide to check on my package online and find out that they actually DID deliever it yesterday. For *anything* that I have to sign for, I've always had to go down to the post office and pick it up, because the UPS employees have *never* signed for it before. But hey, at least I didn't have to make two trips . . .

So, anyway, I

Guilt isn't neccessarily a bad thing . . .
last modified: Monday, August 29, 2005 (8:03:16 PM CST)
That's what I've learned this week. Why?

Well, one of my father's coworkers has had his mother's car sitting around for a while since her passing, and he decided to get rid of it. In fact, *he decided to give it away.* Now, my parents have no need for a car, sooooo . . . ca-ching!!! Unfortunately, the deal didn't go through. Last Friday my parents made the 120 mile drive to where the car was, thinking that it would just need a new battery and then they could drive it home and fix any other problems. They bought the battery, stuck it in, but it still would't start. X( It turns out that one of the valves had broken off and fallen into the engine, where it most likely destroyed the pistons and other enginey stuff (forgive me if I'm getting some of this wrong--I know zip about cars XD ). In fact, it looked like someone had tried to drive the car with the valve in the engine. Given the fact that the car was older than me, my dad decided that it wasn't worth it to tow the car home and completely opened up the engine only to discover that it was unsalvageble. So no free car for me.

So, where does the good part come in? Well, my parents feel guilty that they didn't get the car. Believe me, I did not make them feel this way. I wasn't really counting on getting it in the first place. Be that as it may, they've decided to help me pay for a car if they hear anything about a good deal. Now, I didn't force them to decide this, but at the same time, I'm not going to fight it. Besides, they haven't paid a penny for my education. I've done it all myself through scholarships--some of which I got from sacraficing my high school senior year to the monster named Academic Decathlon (but hey, we got second in the nation by about 300 points--in a competition where the total possible points is 60,000--so I'm not complaining too much).

I've got a horrible story about trying to get my cel shipment from Rinkya, but I've typed enough for now. Suffice it to say that my cels are being held captive on an USPS express truck somewhere, and it involves me making my arms so sore that it kind of hurts to type. Besides that, my little cel fiasco has made me really tired, so I think I'm going to try to take a nap now.

One Week Down . . .
last modified: Friday, August 26, 2005 (10:18:43 PM CST)
. . . I don't really want to count how many to go. XD Actually, my week isn't quite over yet. For some reason I signed up for a three hour literature class on Saturdays . . . now I just need to figure out what I was smoking when I did that. XP It might be marketable for cel money . . .

Well, I'm not about to drop it, because it's an honors class, and I need the honors credit. Plus, it will count towards my major if I end up getting a major in literature--but that's a big if. I'm not really sure what I want to do right now. But hey, I've got a little while to decide, right? Right?

Actually, I've been under a bit of stress lately, which has led to a major bout of depression. I really didn't want to go back to work. But, I went and it wasn't so bad. Basically, what I do boils down to telemarketing--only we're soliciting donations for my university from alumni. So, it isn't as bad, is it? XD You don't need to answer that.

So, I'm feeling a lot better right now. Laughing my head off over a thread over in beta . . . I'm innocent I tell you!!! Seriously speaking, I didn't mean things the way that a certain someone twisted them around, but it's all good. As long as people are having fun and aren't seriously offended. Laughter is good. Plus, my roommate is gone. I hate living with people I don't know. Plus, she always gets up at 5am (for religious reasons, so I'm cool with that) and I can't sleep through alarms. I might be able to get back to sleep, but she's constantly moving about the room, typing on the computer, ironing, whatever. I'm a very light sleeper, so I'm sure I can attribute the majority of my stress and depression to my lack of sleep. I signed up for 10:40 classes for a reason!!! She actually told me before we even met that she was trying to get her own room (she probably had problems with her previous roomie), and I say more power to her! It's not that I don't like her--heck, I'd love the chance to have my own room no matter who my roomie was. So I'm really hoping it will happen.

Now, I'm off to wander about. Catch y'all later.

About time!!!
last modified: Tuesday, August 23, 2005 (7:55:57 PM CST)
I finally sent away for my shipment from Rinkya, but they just seem too expensive to use on a regular basis. I think I'll just be using them for when SMJ messes up on me from now on.

Anyway, that's means that I should be getting some goodies within a few weeks, so I'll be really happy. I won't give everything away, but it's the shipment that has my Ryouga-kun in it. I'm so happy to be getting a cel of one of my favorite characters!!! Now if I could only afford a Sesshomaru or a Dilandau. *Sniff*

I might end up selling one or two things from this shipment, just because they came as sets and I don't want everything. More than likely I'm only going to get rid of one, though. I kind of had buyer's remorse on another one, but I might hang on to him for the time being. I'm not making any sense without names/images to reference, am I? Oh well, I'm keeping it all a secret for now. ;) The shipment itself probably isn't all that spectacular, but I like what's in it. After going back and seeing, I actually only have 8 cels coming to me.

I've gone to all of my classes a least once now. It seems like it's going to be an easy year. I just need to decide what I'm going to do for my major--I really don't know. I want to make a lot of money, but then again, I think it's more important to do something that you love. As long as I'm not starving, I'd rather enjoy my job.

Anyway, most of my textbooks are all taken care of. I had to borrow money from my parents while waiting for my scholarship to come in. XD Silly Japanese packet cost me over $100, and a paperback Spanish book that is about 1/4 inch thick cost me about $40. Yuck.

Official Announcement--1,000 hits!
last modified: Monday, August 22, 2005 (3:02:27 AM CST)
I wrote a few short lines about this on Friday when I hit 1000 (see below), but I thought no one would see it (thanks celhunterj ^.~). Anyway, I'm officially celebrating with the addition of a new category--take a look and see if you can guess which one!

Anyway, I'm all moved in at college, and school starts tommorrow, so I can't write too much. But I've only got two classes tommorrow, so it should be a piece of cake. My roommate and I have to take turns using the internet, since we are still missing the ac adapter to our ethernet hub. I've heard that they're coming in on Monday, and I've also heard Tuesday. I'm really hoping for Monday . . . please, please, please!

I can't believe the number of things I forgot behind at home . . . luckily I don't live too far away, and my dishes won't explode if I don't clean them immeadiately (dish soap was one of those things XD). So, even though classes won't be so busy, I'll be plenty busy buying books and getting some things I need.

Anyway, I think I'm going to sleep--it's a wonderful thing, and I have to get up early tommorrow.

New Stuff Added to Layout
last modified: Monday, August 15, 2005 (6:40:20 PM CST)
I don't know if anyone reads these now that they're not on the front page, so this one is going to be short.

I've put up new images on all of the subpages, as well as added text. Just a little something extra to keep you all entertained. I might be adding more as I go, but once I'm done that might be it until I decide to totally revamp the site. Of course, with the title of my gallery, there are only so many directions I can go with the site design, but I don't mind.

All of the images added are screencaps I did myself from anime that I collect cels from. It was my first time doing screencaps, so I hope they turned out alright. XD Oh, but the "links" picture isn't from an anime, naturally. It's from the official Escaflowne fanbook. The caption reads (to the best of my Japanese translating ability--I'm not sure what some of the kanji mean, so I'm making up a few words. Those words are separated by * *):

To the Escaflowne Fan Book
Won't you see if you *enjoy* these *wonderful stories* together with Hitomi, Van, and all the others?"

Ahem . . . anyway, I have one more cel to put up and then I'm done until I get some of my orders in, including my stuff from Rinkya. Yes, I know I said that I would request shipping for that stuff a long time ago, but something came up. Do you Betarians remember that huge Ranma auction? XD Plus, I got a second chance opportunity on a cel I'd lost on Ebay--stuff like that doesn't happen often.

Well, I go back to school next week, so I'll be packing in the meantime. But today, I really should be getting some of my papers for a job application in order. If I get this job, I may be able to go to Japan next summer!!! So cross your fingers for me. I really, REALLY want it. If not, I still have a job at college that I can go back to--though I must admit that it is pretty stressful.

I guess I lied to you again-- I said that this would be a short one. Heh. I doubt anyone will read it anyway. But if you do, thanks, and leave comments, no matter what they are. :)

So many cels, so little money.
last modified: Saturday, July 30, 2005 (10:39:48 PM CST)
Why on earth are so many cels from the series I collect cropping up all at the same time? It makes me sad knowing that I can't go for all of them--my budget just won't allow it. I actually just spent around $150 in cels--of course, the fact that I got around 14 cels for that price does make me feel a little better. When I do get the cels, I have a feeling a lot of them will go up for offers or to ebay. I bought a lot of them in sets, so I know I won't be wanting all of them.

But my main problem is that I am going to have to start saving up money for books. School starts next month, and I can see myself spending around $500 in books. Of course, now I know about, so I can get some better deals. Besides, I shouldn't be complaining, because I do have a scholarship to cover my books. The fact of the matter is, it's a government scholarship. Basically, the money has to come from the feds to the state, then to my university, and finally make it's way into my savings account. Last year, I did not get my money until mid-October. A lot of good that does me when school starts in August. >_< Stupid money has to make it's way through three bureaucracies before I can use it.

Anyway, I have an update as far as my ebay problem goes. I officially started the process to get my money back. I paid via paypal, so I have a chance of getting it. Basically, if the seller doesn't respond within ten days, I automatically win. Considering her current contact track record with me, I feel that there is a great chance that this will happen. The bad thing is, I can't replace that cel. Plus, the other thing I bought from her was a set of three Eva posters for my little sister's birthday. So it looks like I'm going to have to find a new present.

Anyway, I'm off to look at Ranma and Esca cels. Hopefully some of them will end up in my greedy little hands.

Anyone Collect American Animation? + Some Other Thoughts
last modified: Friday, July 22, 2005 (11:59:00 PM CST)
You do?! Well, I don't. So when I got this Dilbert cel: I honestly didn't know what to do with him. So I've posted around, and I'm hoping to unloa-- . . . er, give someone the priveledge of owning him. If no one contacts me about him within a few months, I will probably just give him to my little brother. My little brother who will probably throw him on the floor, where he will get stepped on, kicked about, shoved in corners, and eventually thrown away. I honestly could care less about the thing. I just don't want it to get destroyed if someone who collects Dilbert out there might want it. I'd try to sell it on ebay, but I don't think it'd be worth the fees. Believe me, I'll let him go for cheap.

In other news, it's raining right now!!! I know that might not be big news for some of you, but I live in the middle of a freakin' desert. We haven't seen rain in months. So it's a good end to an otherwise crappy day.

Back on the crappy side, though, my ebay seller still hasn't contacted me about my Shaoran cel. Grrr. So I sent a kind of ultimatum the other day. Basically, contact me within a week or I'll start the whole ebay tattling process. It's been a month and four emails, one of which she has replied to. I gave a seller the benefit of the doubt once and ended up missing my chance to leave FB, so I'm not going to let it happen again.

In more cel news, I'm still in the process of cleaning cels--I haven't had a chance to since my last entry>__< But they will soon be squeaky clean and actually organized in their Itoyas. Besides that, I still need to try the trick Roy taught me about removing tape gunk.

Anyway, contact me if you want my floating head cel--otherwise, he's probably going to suffer before he dies. But hey, no worries.XD

500 hit celbration!!!
last modified: Wednesday, July 20, 2005 (12:13:20 AM CST)
Yeah!! I'm celebrating the fact that 500 people looked at my gallery. Or maybe it was just one person who REALLY loves me. Anyway, I celebrated with a small update--though I would have posted these cels regardless of my number of hits.

Unfortuanately, my update had to be really small. Most of my cels are still at the DS, including my Ryouga-kun:'( But he'll soon be in my hands, mwahahaha!! But I'm still proud of my cels, especially considering the fact that two came with the original matching backgrounds. Check them out!

On another note, I finally got more cel bags. So now, I've started to sit back and changes bags/ clean up cels, etc. You have no idea how dirty Ranma-kun was! It was disgusting! I shudder to think that I soon will have to clean Millerna as well. She looks like she has quite a bit of dirt on her, and she's a two-layer. Besides that, they're stuck together, so I'm going to have to be real careful or I'll tear her eyes in two. XD Needless to say, my back really hurts.

That's enough for now. I have some CCS cels coming in soon--though the one I bought almost a month ago still hasn't shown up, and out of the three emails I've sent the seller, I've gotten one reply. The rest of my cels are still at the DS--though I will ask for some of them soon, as I am probably going to stop using Rinkya. It's just too expensive.

Anyway, over and out.

Happy Dance, Happy Dance!!!
last modified: Saturday, July 02, 2005 (10:16:09 AM CST)
I wanted to share some great news--I just won a couple of Ryouga cels off of YJ!!! The price--under 5000 yen. So I am doing a quick happy dance before going to work. Oh, and they also can with a cel of Panda-chan. You know, the little girl panda who wants to date Ranma? I feel really good today.^.^ Over and out.

What do you think??
last modified: Saturday, June 25, 2005 (8:38:18 PM CST)
So I've been messing around with photoshop to clean up my sketches; you know, making colors darker and lines more defined, etc. The only problem is, when I do this, any excess paint from when/if a sketch was stuck really shows up. So I've done this to all of the Clamp Campus Detectives sketches that I have up, and I was wondering what you all think.

So go ahead--take a look, and let me know which one you prefer. Yep, I have only uploaded fixed CCD sketches because I want more people to look at them. I know it's not a very popular series, but I like 'em.

Anyway, I really don't care which kind of sketch goes up, because I would rather look at my cels/sketches in person rather than getting on my computer. The first sketch is the unaltered one, and the second is the photoshopped one. I'd just rather get some opinions before I go through all the trouble of fixing the rest. Thanks.

Oh, and I'll be updating in the next couple days, so I'll probably change the sketches then, if at all.:)

To Grandmother's House We Go . . . 2
last modified: Sunday, June 12, 2005 (10:21:18 PM CST)
Arghhh!! I wrote a really long entry and when I hit add entry, it all erased. So, here I go again . . .

I recently won two cels from the Ranma sequence that I'm collecting, so I guess that they count as wishlist cels. The only thing I was dissapointed in is the price. I have bought quite a bit from this particular seller on ebay before, and he usually lists a bin price. For these two cels, the bin would have been around $15 each. Be that as it may, I still usually just place the starting bid and have absolutely no competition. But this time around, there was an actual bid war. I had to result to snipping, which never makes me feel too proud, because I hate it when people do that to me. Anyway, I ended up paying more for one of these cels than I did for all three of the last ones. Well, I guess I'll be a lot happier when they get here:) I'm also considering taking the sequence cels out of the "Ranma 1/2" section and giving them their own section.

On a sadder note, my best friend is going away for two years. He's leaving on a religious mission. Unfortuanately, considering my religion and age, I'm going to be going through a lot of this in the next couple of months. They're doing great things, but that doesn't mean that I can't miss them.

Moodswinging back to happiness, I am leaving tomorrow for my grandma's cabin. I am really glad to be getting out of the 100 degree heat, even if the cabin is very small. So I'll be out in the middle of nowhere with no means of communicating with the rest of the world for about four days, but that's all right.

Oh, and I got a job for over the summer. Yeah for supporting my addiction. My only quabble is that I am now working over three times the number of hours than I was working when I went to school. It seems like I never do anything but work or sleep. But hey, I could use the money.

Also, I'd like to thank everyone who replies to my blog. And a special thanks goes out to Roy for giving cel preservation advice!!

Now to pack . . .

Update, episdoe hunting, and a disappointment
last modified: Saturday, May 28, 2005 (4:16:03 AM CST)
So I was really excited to get not one, but TWO packages of cels on the same day. Hurray for me!! That's mostly what's in this update, adn I'm really looking forward to some others that are in the mail.

Sadly, the Mousse cel I have has been stained by his background. You can't tell in the scan, but all of his white clothing has splotches of purplish-pink. And so the background is missing some paint now as well, but they are not stuck. Any suggestions out there for getting the splotches off the cel?

I spent quite a bit of time searching through dvds of anime that I do have for specific episode numbers/titles, so enjoy it! Actually, I really only looked for cels which I had an idea of where it might be found, so it wasn't too difficult. But I found out that Hitomi wears that borrowed dress far longer than I remembered. I think it ended up being close to 5 episodes--and my cel turned up in the last episode that she wore it . . .

Speaking of Hitomi, I really got a big disappointment the other day. I had won a very nice close-up of her without her school jacket, just after she sees what Van does to Dilandau, but it turns out that the seller already sold it a month ago and it was relisted due to a computing error. I'm a Dilandau fan, but I haven't seen any cels on the market, so I figure Hitomi's reaction is probably the closest I can get to THAT scene at the moment, so I was kind of upset to hear that. Plus, I know where the original matching background is, and while I did not expect to be able to buy that, I was hoping to be able to get a color copy. The seller? mangadrake, which is Mandrake's ebay user id. Considering that fact, I believe that it really was an honest mistake, but it really is disappointing--not to mention the fact that selling things you don't have is completely against ebay policy, and I am completely within my rights to report them, etc. But I do believe it was a mistake, so I don't really want to do that. I have however, asked if they have any other Esca cels they can sell me for around that price--seems reasonable right? Do you think I was out of line to do so? What should I do? Sigh . . .

Newbie's quick thoughts
last modified: Wednesday, May 25, 2005 (2:09:48 AM CST)
Oh wow, I can see that I've been sucked into a world that threatens to seriously deplete my bank account. Maybe I should have waited until graduating from college and getting a secure job . . . Oh well, it looks like this is going to be one heck of a ride. This is my first website, too. So in the past few days, I've learned how to resize pictures. Never needed to know that before.

Well, take a look around and let me know what you think. I actually have a couple more Esca cels, a Ranma cel, a Slayers cel, a whole lot of Clamp Campus Cels, and a couple new series on the way to my home as I type. I also have an enormous amount of sketches waiting to be uploaded. Besides that, I really need to fill out my wishlist. It promises to be a really expensive one, too. Almost all of my favorite characters always turn out to be the most expensive cels. Got any suggestions for my gallery? Let me know.
