Escaflowne - Misguided Guys/Gals

The series that started it all (for me . . . as far as cel collecting goes.). Mecha and blood for the boys; mecha, blood, and bishies with wings for the girls. BTW--I LOVE Dilandau--but I absolutely hated him in the beginning. It started as pity until he grew into my favorite character in the entire anime. I'll be the first to admit that my Esca cel collection is not quite as impressive as some of the ones out there, but I am just starting out. Those really expensive cels will have to wait until I graduate from college. But I can wait.
Normally, a series will have "good" guys and "bad" guys. However, the characters in Escaflowne are much more realistic than that. They obviously do not consider themselves evil. Whether for love, loyalty, hope for a better future, or whatever the goal may be, each character has a noble end in mind. The characters in this section just happen to be a little more misguided than the others.
Though Dilandau may have no noble end in mind, he also belongs here. Who could be more misguided than someone whose entire life has been pulled apart and rebuilt by a "higher" power?
